What is Pilates?

Pilates transforms your body and builds strength without excess bulk, creating a naturally toned body.  Pilates elongates and strengthens improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility.  Pilates works your core muscles.  The core consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closet to the spine.  Control of the core is achieved by integrating the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle.

Pilates exercises train several muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movements. Pilates is a safe method of exercise when performed correctly and is often used in physical therapy facilities to rehabilitate injuries.

Pilates allows you to work at your own intensity level and pace.  Pilates exercise instructions are given in the beginner, intermediate and advanced level so that each individual can tailor the workout to their own needs and fitness level.
